About Large-Area Electronics
Large-Area Electronics (including printable, flexible or organic electronics) is a new way of making electronics using novel electronic materials, often formulated as inks, and low-temperature processes such as printing and coating. This approach offers the benefits of lower-cost manufacturing plants producing systems in high volume with new form factors and features. Examples include photovoltaics, lighting, displays, sensing systems and intelligent objects.
The EPSRC Centre is a partnership between CIKC at the University of Cambridge, the Centre for Plastic Electronics at Imperial College, the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating at Swansea University and the Organic Materials Innovation Centre at the University of Manchester, created to work with industry to address key research challenges for manufacturing large-area electronic systems.
