Dr Luigi Occhipinti who holds a position at the University of Cambridge, Electrical Engineering Division, as National Outreach Manager of the EPSRC Centre of Innovative Manufacturing for Large Area Electronics has been recognised with the “Premio Ragusani nel Mondo 2016” Award in Ragusa, Italy last month, for his work as Industrial Researcher and Manager.
Two days were devoted to the awards show, 5th – 6th August 2016, with entertainment and music. The evening of Saturday, August 6th was dedicated to science, entrepreneurship, and business awards presented to the individuals who have excelled in their fields and established themselves in Italy as well as the world.
Dr Luigi Occhipinti joined the Centre in April 2014 with more than 18 years of experience driving research and innovation in the global semiconductor industry, particularly in the field of post-silicon technologies. Luigi has an Electronic Engineering degree from the University of Catania and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rome University "Tor Vergata". He has authored and co-authored over 80 scientific publications and 35 patents.
He has 20 years of experience driving research and innovation in the semiconductor industry, pioneering the field of post-silicon technologies, including development and applications of: organic and printed electronics, MEMS and bio-MEMS devices, graphene-based flexible electronics, smart sensors and systems heterogeneous integration, chemical and bio-sensors for personalized diagnostics and therapeutics.
