Flexipower project

The Flexipower project is developing a printed radio frequency energy harvesting system to allow devices to be powered without the need for wires or recharging. This example shows the RFID reader in a smartphone intermittently searching for nearby tags, the energy the reader is outputting is collected by the printed circuit and used to light a conventional LED. Printed energy harvesting and energy storage could be used in the creation of ultra-low cost devices without the need for bulky and expensive batteries.
